This Knife Making Workshop was with Master Blacksmith Phan Keosoulinya and his son in Luang Prabang in November 2018. It was booked through the web site of Backstreet Academy. There was one other person taking the workshop and we both left with very nice knives and sore muscles.

As you’ll see in the video we started with a small flat of steel that eventually gets pounded and shaped into a fine knife. If you look very closely early in the video at the fire you may be able to make out a small banana roasting in the coals that Sr. Keosoulinya was preparing for his parakeet.
